| Sky Force (2025) |
Sky Force is based on the real events that took place during the Indo Pakistan war of 1965, that focuses on the brave operations of the Indian Air Force, where brave pilots carried out an airstrike on the Sargodha air base of Pakistan. It is based on the story of a reckless pilot and his disappearance, and the Wing Commander’s investigation to find the truth for almost two decades.
The film belongs to the war genre, and it is filled with stories of bravery, heroism, and patriotism, and the directors Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapur have added mystery to the mix. The film transports the viewer to Indo-Pak war of 1965 and the first aerial battle of the nation against Pakistan. The movie is based on Squadron Leader T.K. ‘Tabby’ Vijaya (Veer Pahariya), who breaks protocol to go on a one-man operation to the enemy’s stronghold for Mission Sky Force. He goes into hiding, thus creating suspense. Wing Commander K.O. ‘Tiger’ Ahuja (Akshay Kumar) is on the hunt for Tabby for 19 years.
The movie begins with a lot of training scenes in the air and humor that does not hold the viewer’s interest at first. However, when the action moves to the aerial, the story acquires the wings to fly. The script written by Kewlani, along with the crisp editing by A. Sreekar Prasad, makes it a taut thriller that keeps the audience emotionally involved. Cinematographer Santhana Krishnan Ravichandran, Action directors Craig MacRae and Parvez Shaikh make the scenes look very impressive, and the audience is glued to the screen. Political and bureaucratic issues are mentioned, and they seem to contribute to the plausibility without slowing the game down. The climax, when the audience learns the truth about Tabby’s mission, is heart-tugging and gratifying, but the show advises you to have some tissues handy. Tanishk Bagchi has provided soothing music, and Justin Varghese has given a perfect background score for the movie, which adds to the patriotic and sentimental feel of the movie.
Akshay Kumar’s portrayal as Wing Commander Ahuja is quite professional and sensitive, and he shows leadership and emotional quotient while dealing with administrative barriers effectively and gently. The hero Veer Pahariya has appeared in an interesting role, and it is a good debut. He does show charisma and passion in his portrayal and manages to pull off the role. The chemistry of the actors is well depicted on the screen and is engaging. Sharad Kelkar is equally impressive as Squadron Leader Ahmed Hussain, despite the fact that he appears in the movie rather briefly. Sara Ali Khan is not bad as Geeta Vijaya, but she could have been used more effectively in the movie. The supporting characters are also well played by Nimrat Kaur as Preeti Ahuja, Manish Chaudhri as Group Captain Lawrence, Soham Mujumdar as Tabby’s rival, Debashish Chatterjee, and Varun Badola as Air Chief Marshal Amit.
Sky Force can be noted for its non-radical approach to the idea of patriotism, non-assertive, and non-aggressive. It gives tribute to a few more such people who are not famous, such as Squadron Leader Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya, and the same is reflected in Tabby. In this respect, it is a great tribute to the movie, which should be watched by all those who enjoy watching war-related films with a touch of action and romance. All in all, there are a few minor hitches in the plot which can be easily ignored; overall, it is a flight worth taking.
